BURTON'S OF BILLINGBOROUGH
A MYSTERY SOLVED!
Many years ago, in my teens, my Nan (Freda Molly Abraham), told me that there was a "Title" in the family & land located in the "West Country", but she didn't know the details. I didn't take that much notice at that time as I thought it was pretty unlikely.
For years I painstakingly searched for this elusive "Title" with no success, so had basically given up. Then in April 2018, out of the blue, a lady contacted me & informed me that my ancestors were in "Burke's Peerage"!
You can imagine my huge excitement when I saw for the first time my 4th Great Grandmother - Elizabeth Burton - & her ancestors in the publication. I was even more excited when I saw the records went back to c1342 with details of births, marriages & deaths. One of them was even Knighted by King Henry VIII !
As there is so much information, I have just put below my lineage going back to my 19th Great Grandparents.

I have been able to prove my Lineage with the History of Parliament and Burke's Peerage (see below 2 pages). Within the family the Burton's married, at least 3 times, cousins. The only one I can't prove (as yet) is Sir James Burton (b.1462) and Ann Burton (b.1464).
I intend on making a trip to Linconshire Archives to gain more info on the Burton line. I know they have quite a bit as a lot appears on their online catalogue.
